Homemade Dates Paste

When you think of a substitute for sugar, the first thing that comes to ones mind is Dates.

Besides being naturally sweet, dates are a good source of fibre, vitamins & minerals, as well as a great source of energy, which makes it an excellent sugar substitute.

When my kids want something sweet my first preference is always Dates 😃

So to make life easier, I take a heap full of this yummy goodness, turn it into a paste and store it to use for various sweet recipes whenever required. One should always have healthier options in hand & ready to use.

Well the best part about this recipe is that it is absolutely perfect for the busy bees, so easy, so simple to make & so Yummazing! 🤗

Yields1 Serving
Prep Time1 hrCook Time15 minsTotal Time1 hr 15 mins
 300 g Dates (deseeded)(use good quality Dates)
 300 ml Water
1

To begin with, first wash the Dates well and then soak it in boiling water for about an hour or more. (We do this to soften the Dates so it’ll be easier to blend)

2

Once the Dates have softened well, put them in a blender jar along with the water it was soaking in & blend it into a smooth paste.

3

Next, strain this paste using a clean and dry strainer.

4

Straining the paste helps you get a 100% smooth texture, free of any bits or pieces that didn’t blend.

5

Next transfer this paste into a pan and boil it for about 10 minutes on a medium low flame. Remember to keep stirring the paste to avoid any burning.

6

Cool down the paste completely before transferring it into an airtight jar/container preferably made of glass.

7

This sweet goodness will stay good for 2 months if stored in the refrigerator.
