About Me

Hey, foodie!

Let me start by giving you the warmest welcome to Sophie’s Kitchen Love!

I’m Sophia Machado, but you can call me Sophie!

My cooking journey kick-started at the age of 13. The first food item I ever prepared was the traditional dal (toor, yellow lentils). Thereon, from spices and ingredients to crockery and cutlery, anything & everything food related intrigued me.

I began experimenting with different types of food and trying out new recipes, which never restricted me to stick to one cuisine. I’d enter the kitchen deciding to cook 2 items, but end up dishing 4 to 5, before I head out.

Back then with limited access to our Guru Google, whenever I ran out of ideas, I’d pester my mom, my aunts, even trouble my friends and their moms to share more & more recipes. I kept annoying everyone in sight for recipes, borrowed books from the library, collected articles from newspapers & magazines.

One thing about me, I absolutely dislike cooking the same dish time & again, which made me experiment with new recipes. Whipping new recipes, creating dishes that are unfamiliar gave me an adrenaline rush.

My husband, Joel, is my rock, my strength and the prime reason why I can follow my dream. BTW, he is a big foodie just like me, so cooking for him is like a fantasy. The best part about cooking for him is that he definitely will critic if something is off and will never miss an opportunity to praise & appreciate. This adds extra spark of joy to my cooking process and gives me the much-needed confidence to try out something new. He is my strongest support & my greatest fan! Joel always encourages me to do what my heart desires, which led me to study sports nutrition and currently, I’m training to be a yoga teacher.

Giving birth to my 2 adorable munchkins, Jaden & Sian, pushed me towards creating quick, easy, fun, delicious & healthy recipes. They are my biggest food critics.

You’ve reached this far reading about me and I can’t thank you enough for spending your incredibly precious time. It surely means a lot.

There a few notable mentions I need to add here, without whom my blog wouldn’t be a success. Oliver Sequeira (Younger Brother), Rituja Shahane (Close Friend), Elvia Rodrigues (Cousin Sister) & Ronak Shah (Friend) – they’re the biggest reason why I’m a blogger now!

Thank you once again for visiting my site. I hope you like the recipes that I curate & create with all my love. Do give them a try and share your thoughts with me. I’d love to hear from you all.
